October 2011 Play of the Month: KNUCKLEHEADS by James McLindon

The October 2011 Play of the Month is KNUCKLEHEADS by James McLindon. Performed by Diane Quinn and Doug Rossi. Thanks to everybody for your great work and sharing your talent.

James discusses the genesis of the play:
I had long wanted to write a contemporary play involving an Irish fairy -- not the Disney variety, but the deeply frightening ones that country people deeply believed in, in some cases until well into the last century. Simultaneously, I read a number of stories about the strains that our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were putting on single-parent households, and specifically about the psychic damage done to a child whose only parent was in harm's way. From these two strands, Knuckleheads was born. I have since expanded it into a full-length play entitled, Comes a Faery, which was developed at the O'Neill National Playwrights Conference.
