Time to Strike short play competition

NOTE: No fee for submission, but there is a $10 fee for the second round competition showcase.

Strike 38! is requesting submissions for the first annual TIME TO STRIKE short play competition. After collaborating in play festivals and producing shows in previous years, we have decided to step it up and search for the next big thing in theater! We are going to show everyone what theater can be about. We are looking for 5 to 15 minute plays that will share an entire story with our audience, so bring your best. The submission guidelines and competition explanation are below:

Submission Guidelines:
*5 to 15 minutes plays. Any theme, only requirement is to tell a complete story.
*Include name, email, phone number, and title on the cover page.
*Play must be received by February 20, 2012. Any play received after that will not be read. Submissions must be sent to nelson@strike38.com
*There is no censorship so write without fear.
*Limited to two submissions per playwright.
*You have full production right unless you are out of state and will not be in New York to produce the play. We will assign a crew to produce your show.

Competition Rules:
There are three rounds to this competition:
• First Round: Submitting the play. The play will be read by three people, and they will choose from 15 to 20 plays to advance to the second round. Judges for first round are Nelson Diaz-Marcano(Artistic Director), Timothy Charles Browne (Literary Manager), and Rebecca Aparicio (Writer/Director.)
• Second Round: You will showcase your production in a bare stage version to our judges. There will be a $10 fee for this (Only fee that will be asked unless you will not be producing your show). This will take place at the beginning of April.
• Third Round: Eight to 10 plays will be chosen from the second round and will have a full stage production on May 13, 2012. There will be two showings. There will be judges voting to award for categories of Best Production, Best Writer, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Director. The audience will be included in the voting. They will vote on a scale of 1 to 4 and there will also be a cash prize of a $100 for the winner of the Audience Favorite Award.
