Heavy Feather Review 2.2 seeks drama

web site

The deadline for HFR 2.2 consideration is June 15, 2013.

HFR accepts the following:
  • Fiction
  • Poetry (3-6 poems)
  • Creative Nonfiction
  • Drama
  • Hybrid: If your work does not fit neatly into one of our existing criterion—fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, or drama—consider our “Hybrid” category, where genre determination is of no importance.
  • Original Art/Photography: HFR is looking for stand-alone illustrations, comics, photography, and graphics to employ as cover art or publish within issues. Check out our tumblr to see original art/photography that piques our interest.

  • Post: HFR is looking to feature content on its homepage on a rolling basis. We’re looking for thoughtful essays, book reviews, and interviews that address ideas about writing, life, anything. Books reviewed should be works of fiction, poetry, or creative nonfiction published within six months of submitting. Please keep submissions concise—approximately 1000-2000 words.

Save submissions as one document (doc, docx, rtf, txt, jpg, or png).
Submit via Submittable.

All text should be set in a standard font. Cover letters are encouraged, but not required.

There is no reading fee (excluding contests). HFR reads year-round and debuts two issues a year. Only one submission at a time: the editors will get to your work as fast as they can. Allow 30-90 days for a response, inquire after 120, although we pride ourselves in responding sooner. Send all inquiries here. Simultaneous submissions are allowed. Please notify us immediately if your submitted work has been accepted for publication elsewhere. HFR does not accept work that has been previously published elsewhere. Upon acceptance, HFR takes first serial rights to the work. Upon publication, all rights revert back to the author. Should the accepted work appear elsewhere after its publication in HFR, be sure to list HFR as its original publisher. HFR is unable to pay contributors. Contributors receive digital, DRM-free copies of the issue in which they are published.
