NOTE:  If the playwright (of the selected work) is not currently a PRT Member, they are required to join PRT prior to production for a minimum of one season. Dues must be submitted before production can begin. These dues are $30 for one year's membership.

Playwrights' Round Table of Orlando, Florida is now accepting full-length scripts for the third edition of the Premiere Series, running through August 31st, 2013. Our Reading Committee will read and score the plays throughout this period. We hope to have the selected play announced by the start of October.

Following are the submission guidelines:

1. Plays must be original, previously unproduced works. Plays that have been previously workshopped, or presented as a staged reading, are acceptable.

2. Plays must be approximately 90-120 minutes long (generally speaking, 2 acts, lasting around 75-90 pages).

3. Scripts should be properly formatted and submitted electronically in .doc (MS Word 2003) format. Please do not send as PDFs. Please number the pages.

4. Please include the following information on the title page of your submission: name, e-mail address, contact phone number, city/country of residence, and a brief synopsis of the play. Please also include a resume or CV, in a separate attachment from the play submission.

5. The play will be performed April 2014 in the Mandell Theatre at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center. This particular venue features a proscenium-style stage in a space that seats up to 100 people. Thus, we are able to produce a play that is a little more detailed than our usual black-box arrangement, and we can configure the space a number of ways. However, keep in mind that overly elaborate sets and technical requirements may impact our ability to perform the piece. Sticking with a unit set is usually a good idea. Keep it simple.

6. Cast sizes should be manageable. 5-6 is the preferred number, 10 or more is probably too many.

7. Any subject matter is acceptable. We welcome a wide range of viewpoints, experiences, and stories to present on our stage, so ALL playwrights, regardless of age, gender, sexual preference, or ethnicity, are highly encouraged to submit plays to the script call.

8. Plays should be emailed to submissions@theprt.com. The deadline for consideration for the script call is 11:59 pm Eastern Time, August 31st, 2013. If you experience difficulty e-mailing scripts or attachments to this address, as a backup, please send them to info@theprt.com or charlesrdent@hotmail.com.

9. The writer of the selected play will be notified via email, and granted the option of being produced. If the playwright is not currently a PRT Member, they are required to join PRT prior to production for a minimum of one season. Dues must be submitted before production can begin. These dues are $30 for one year's membership. If dues are not submitted in a timely manner, the play will be replaced in the lineup.

10. Please submit no more than 2 plays per writer. There is no charge to submit a play, only to join the group as a member if your play is selected.

If you have further questions regarding this call, please contact us at info@theprt.com.

We look forward to your submissions. Good luck, everyone!
