12th Annual NJPC – Play Series

web site

The New Jersey Playwrights Contest of WPUNJ in Wayne, NJ is proud to announce the 12th Annual NJPC –

Play Series (open to NJ Residents only) and

Musical Series (open to all in the northern NJ, tri-state region within 75 mile radius of Wayne NJ).

The NJPC helps bring new playwrights and composers and their work into focus in the community, the region and the state of New Jersey.  At this time we are seeking new plays and musicals, specifically those suited for staging in a black box theatre – i.e. small casts, limited scenic needs, etc. The NJPC offers the contest winners the chance to see their work fully realized on stage and is proud to have produced 13 original plays and musicals in our first 10 seasons!

Three play finalists will be selected from all entries received by June 30, 2014 and given staged readings in the fall of 2014.

Three musical finalists will be selected from all entries received by August 31, 2014 and given staged readings in the spring of 2015.

Entries must include: a completed, signed and legible Entry Form; a cover letter, stating availability of the author for participation in the process and the performance history of the piece; a one-page synopsis of the play or musical that includes the cast/vocal requirements and scenic needs; and a resume of the playwright and/or composer.
NO SCORES OR LIBRETTOS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED UNTIL REQUESTED.

Entries must be emailed to TheatreSeries@WPUNJ.edu
In the subject line please put: 12th Annual NJPC and your full name.

Note: Those selected to participate in the next round must submit the play, or librettos and a piano score for the entire show in PDF format. (Audio files are also encouraged but not required.) Interviews with the authors will be arranged as soon as possible after selection.
