Once upon a time, in the frozen lands of Minnesota, a group of queers gathered together to fight the rising tide of heteronormativity plaguing their arts scene. They sent out a call for stories of magic, heroes, and fairies. These stories they combined in their magic theatre cauldron and formed the Final Frontier Festival: Fairy Tales.
It's that time of year again adventurers! Gadfly Theatre Productions is seeking scripts for our annual geeky one act festival. This year's theme is fairy tales. Submissions should be 20-40 minutes long, contain minimal characters and set needs, and adhere or our queer/feminist mission. No ten minute plays, full lengths, or scripts not adhering to either the theme or mission will be considered.
So, if you have a script about a trans princess saving her kingdom from a dragon, a gay retelling of the Little Mermaid, or a story of a first born child promised to two different witches who then have to raise the kid together all Three's Company style, shoot them our way. Submissions should be sent to email@example.com no later than January 15, 2017.
Decisions will be made mid March and the festival will open in summer of 2017. As always, playwrights of color and trans identity are particularly encouraged to submit their work.
