Guidelines

Beginning in 2012, the One Man Play Competition will focus on giving playwrights of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience the challenge of writing a one man show. It is an annual competition looking for the best one man (or woman) show in America.

Scripts must be postmarked by June 30st, 2012 to be accepted as submissions to the contest. Anything postmarked after this date will not be considered.

Include a summary of the play. Any genre is accepted but we are not interested in autobiographical testimony plays.

There is a two play submission limit.

We do accept electronic submissions. Email them to: spotlightonplaywriting@gmail.com

No scripts will be returned.

Include a resume with your submission.

Each script must be between a 10 minute minimum and a 95 minute maximum.

Title Page must contain the playwright’s name, address, phone number and email address.

All submissions must be English.

The winner will receive a $500 cash prize and the play will be considered for possible production and performance following the competition. The One Man Playwriting Competition will retain all rights for the winning play to be produced and performed in Los Angeles for up to a year after the award is given.
